Katie Recollects: KL Illustration Fair 2024 & 2025!
For the past two years, Wizard Within has been meeting so many of you at KL Illustration Fair! We have been reminiscing about those super fun times we had so let’s take a look at a blast from the past!
In 2024, our exhibition room was coral town themed in conjunction with our book launch, “Brave Katie and the Great Ocean Adventure”! Our author-illustrator, Yi Pei shared her long-awaited creation and took our enthusiastic audience along her book-making journey. As it was our first time at the much anticipated event, we went all out on the decoration and merchandise.
Jellyfish from Melody Kindyland Preschool hung from the ceiling and a giant starfish brightened up the room. We brought along as many sea creatures as possible for you to meet and it was all worth it! You guys loved Katie’s new adventure and our exhibition! It was an exclusive chance for you to take home a signed copy of our storybooks and our illustrators were ready with pens in hand to make every purchase extra special. It was incredibly heartwarming to see everyone taking pictures of our set-up and playing with the decorations that even after taking everything down, we could still feel the warmth you guys left in the room.
Because of that, we swore to come back and make our room even more spectacular! This time, with a European gallery from “Brave Katie and the Great Luggage Escape”! Katie and her entire family tagged along as our illustrator, Jessica and our producer, Pei Yen took everyone on a special behind-the-scenes tour of Katie’s adventure. You could find musical buskers, yummy European bread and cheese, and of course, our books and merchandise all waiting to return home with you.
Our gallery of seek-and-find artwork kept you guys busy as people continued to fill our exhibition room with laughs and magic. It was lovely seeing so many familiar faces as well as the many new friends we made during this year’s fair. A huge thank you to KL Illustration Fair and GMBB for having us and we look forward to next year’s fair!
